Raymond Mniko
Kuro, Tarangire, Northern Tanzania
Raymond (Ray) was born in the eastern shores of Lake Victoria, Tanzania. As a child, he was inspired by his grandfather’s stories of wildlife experiences in the Serengeti area back in the early 1900’s, long before the Serengeti became a National Park.
As a youngster, he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his brother, Mkombe, who was a professional safari guide for over a decade and one of the founders of Nomad Safari Guides, the company that later became part of Nomad Tanzania.
Ray was fortunate to visit some of the world's natural wonders at an early age, including Kilimanjaro, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Lake Manyara. This experience led him to study at the College of African Wildlife Management, MWEKA. Ray fulfilled his childhood dream to become a safari guide, and he’s now been guiding for over 14 years, winning several notable awards along the way.
Before joining Nomad as camp manager at Kuro Tarangire Raymond also led trips across East Africa including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and to the Omo Valley in Ethiopia.
