On the road to Entamanu
Begin your safari driving from the bustling town of Arusha and head west along the Maasai Steppe. A journey of around four hours will see you skirt the edges of Lake Manyara National Park and through the towns of Mto Wa Mbu and Karatu on your way into camp for a delicious late lunch.
Day 1
Entamanu, Ngorongoro
As you pass through the park gates, the canvas of the Ngorongoro landscape begins to unfold before you. Our private 9-kilometer driveway winds its way up the slopes, offering a tantalising glimpse of the wild abode that awaits.
Our secluded location ensures a sense of blissful isolation, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the primal rhythms of this ancient place. As you arrive and take in the panoramic views, the hustle and bustle of the outside world melts away, replaced by a tranquility that signals the start of your green season journey.
Day 2
Ngorongoro Crater
As the first golden rays of dawn break over the Entamanu cottages, you'll be gently roused from your slumber with the aroma of fresh-brewed coffee and tea. Gather your safari gear and set out with excitement.
Nomad guides, who have spent decades honing their wilderness wisdom, are masters at navigating these dramatic landscapes while skilfully avoiding the crowds. The true pleasure of the Crater lies in experiencing its boundless wonder in solitude. And so, as you descend into the caldera, you'll be met with a breathtaking panorama untainted by human presence - sweeping grasslands teeming with a staggering diversity of wildlife, from the mighty elephant to the elusive black rhino.
Entamanu to Serengeti Safari Camp
Wave an early goodbye to the lovely Entamanu team and set off for the Serengeti. This is a beautiful drive watching the change in landscape and ecosystem.
Day 3 - 5
Serengeti Safari Camp
Serengeti Safari Camp was the first of its kind and one of the original Nomad camps, designed with a purpose in mind; to be in the best possible location to view the wildebeest migration.
As each day dawns over our Serengeti camp, the ancient rhythms of the plains stir to life all around you. Follow the great herds as they move across the rolling grasslands, their numbers swelling with newborn calves taking their first wobbly steps. But the wildebeest, zebra, and gazelles are not alone - they draw in the apex predators, like stealthy cheetahs contemplating their next lightning strike or prides of lions on the prowl.
The ultimate game drive to Lamai
To us the migration is really the beginning of one of Africa’s greatest game experiences; a once in a lifetime chance to discover the whole Serengeti. Things really start to get exciting when you point north, driving off the plains and leaving the circus of the migration behind you. On your drive north, you’ll grasp the scale and sheer diversity of the Serengeti.
Days 5 - 8
Lamai, Serengeti
Tucked away in the far northern reaches of the Serengeti, Lamai stands as an oasis of quiet sophistication amidst a landscape of endless wonder. This intimate eco-lodge, perched atop a prime kopje overlooking the vast grasslands towards the Masai Mara.
From your private veranda, the Serengeti unfolds before you in all its glory. Lamai's true claim to fame lies in its unparalleled leopard sightings. The lodge's strategic location, coupled with the guides' knowledge of the area, means that a majority of guests depart with the thrill of having spotted these elusive spotted cats, blending seamlessly into the dappled shadows one moment, then effortlessly poised in plain view the next.
Fewer people, more wilderness
The northern Serengeti shines brightest in the green season, when fewer travellers venture forth and the land blossoms with new life. Explore untrodden paths, and hidden kopjes - a wilderness all your own, rich with extraordinary wildlife encounters free from the crowds.
